Our ISO (Insurance Services Office Rating) and what it means for you

The Insurance Services Office(ISO) is an independent agency that evaluates approximately 42,000 fire departments nationwide, of which approximately 2200 are in Ohio. The fire departments are rated on a 1-10 scale, with 1 being the best. Most insurance companies use the fire department’s ISO classification to determine homeowner’s insurance premiums.
Your Bloom Township Fire Department has an ISO classification of 3/3Y. ISO 3 applies to you if you live within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station and within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant or alternate water source. ISO 3Y applies if you live within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station but not necessarily within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant or alternate water source.
We are very proud of our rating. The ISO 3/3Y classification ranks Bloom Township Fire Department in the top 10% of Ohio and nationwide fire departments. You should notify your insurance company of our ISO classification, it could mean a savings in your premiums.
